Archaic Chinese Jades: Special Exhibition, February 1940
by [Jayne, Horace H. F.]
Philadelphia: The University Museum, 1940. Softcover. VG (Covers have slight aging around edges; interior surfaces are clean in spite of age.). Blue paper stapled wraps with dusky orange illus. applied to front cover; 58 pp., 16 BW plates. Issued in conjunction with a 1940 exhibition of a collection of 310 small Chinese jades, courtesy of an anonymous collector who evidently relished only the opportunity to have them on display. With an introductory essay by "H. H. F. J," which could have been only Horace H. F. Jayne, the director of the Penn museum at the time. The annotated catalogue addresses all 310 pieces; and the 16 BW plates shows each one of them, in a series of group photographs. A scarce catalogue.
