New York: Gnome Press, Inc.. Good. (c.1955). First Edition. Hardcover. (in a new FACSIMILE dust jacket) [moderate wear to edges and corners, some smudging/soiling to paper-covered boards, pages browned at edges (but not brittle)]. Well-regarded sci-fi novel about an adventurer hired to assassinate the head of a tyrannical interplanetary company; he carries out his assignment and subsequently gets embroiled in the affairs of the company's home planet. The book was reportedly completed by Gunn at Williamson's request after the latter had found himself writer's-blocked after finishing the first 50 pages. The authors' only joint effort, it was generally well-reviewed upon publication, and was sort of "rediscovered" a couple of decades later by critic Gerald Jonas, who declared it akin to "a collaboration between [Robert] Heinlein and [Isaac] Asimov." NOTE that the dust jacket is a FACSIMILE. . (Inventory #: 22382)
