Budapest: Plasztikus Képekben. Printer: Nyomda. First Edition thus, presumed. Very Good. Carousel movable realization of a Hungarian classic children's story, opening up to six three dimensional scenes. N.d., circa 1950s. Closed, 17 by 14 cm. Open, the diameter is about 29 cm. The carousel format and loosely speaking, style of the book is similar to Roland Pym pop-ups created during the early postwar period, with each scene having toy theater quality, something deliberate in their theatrical wing framing. The illustrations in this Hungarian variant are somewhat literal and darkish. Scenes are of dreamy lovers, the dashing young man going off to war, against the Turks, a ball, and a happy ending with a marriage. Scarce, with no copies located anywhere of this version -- this is a famous epic, and there is a conventional book version containing Rona Emy illustrations, as well as a multitude of other editions with other illustrators. Light wear.
