Used; Like New/Used; Like New. Fine AMQS from the celebrated Hungarian violinist, on the verso of a photograph postcard of himself. Hubay has penned one measure from his opera "Le Luthier de Cremona,"Â signed and dated Budapest 1929, April 26th.Â Autograph material from Hubay is scarce. Light toning; otherwise in very fine condition. 3.5 x 5.5 inches (8.5 x 13.7 cm).A student of Joachim and Vieuxtemps, he performed recitals with Liszt and went on to teach, among others, Aranyi, Gertler, Geyer, Szekely, Vecsey, Szigeti, Telemanyi, and Eddy Brown. "Hubay's legacy includes a compositional output of considerable breadth. A significant proportion of his approximately 200 violin pieces and the majority of his songs date from 1880 to 1900. In the second half of his life he turned his attention increasingly towards large-scale genres....A cremonai hegedus ( 'The Violin Maker of Cremona') was produced at some 70 opera houses around the world, and was the first Hungarian opera to be staged outside Europe (New York, 1897)."
