by [New York City] [Treaty of 1674]
The Hague: Jacobus Scheltus, 1674. A Dutch edition of the Second Treaty of Westminster, ending the third Anglo-Dutch War. By this treaty, the beleaguered Dutch granted the British trading rights throughout the world and returned New York, which they had again seized. The conditions were largely similar to those of Breda Peace 1667; New York, formerly New Netherland, would henceforth be an English possession and Suriname, conquered by Abraham Crijnssen in 1667, remained a Dutch colony. Davenport 69; Knuttel 11119 (first printing of two Dutch). 8vo, 19pp. Later blue papered boards, printed paper spine label. Foxed, else good. OCLC: 68131859 records 3 copies.
