New York Farrar, Straus and Young, Inc. 1951 Hardcover Steely grayish blue cloth spine and boards. Very good in a good only dust jacket. Light bumping at the head and tail of the spine and light rubbing at the tips of the corners. Dust Jacket - has light rubbing all around the outside edges. 1/4" chip in the tip of each outside corner. Couple small chips in the head and tail of the spine. Price-clipped. Watermark visible on the rear cover and on most of the inside of the jacket - however, not a bad overall presentation.

boards : Common term for the covers of a hardbound book.
rubbing : Abrasion or wear to the surface. Usually
used in reference to a book's boards or dust-jacket.
dust jacket : A protective and often decorative wrapper, usually made of paper which wraps around the binding of a book.
spine : The outer portion of a book which covers the actual binding. The spine usually faces outward when a book is placed on a shelf. Also known as the back.
bumping : Indicates that the affected part of the book has been impacted in such a way so as to cause a flattening, indention, or light bending.
tail : The heel of the spine.
price-clipped : The portion of the dust jacket flap where the publisher prints the suggested price has been cut away. Usually this is a clean 1-2" diagonal cut made with scissors.
Cloth : Generally refers to a hardcover with cloth covering the outside of the book covers.
