Early ink ownership signature in top margin of upper wrapper (dated May 1895), a few small spots and smudges, otherwise a very good copy of a fragile book. First edition of the future dramatist and poet's first separate publication, issued in the course of his second year at Harvard. The cover design is by Eric Pape, and the frontis by Alice Davenport. John S. Van E. Kohn asserted in Seven Gables 34:174 that only fifty copies were printed.
