Minor shelf/edge wear, touch of toning at spine, owner signature at front pastedown, minor ghost of a removed bookplate, several pages show small closed tears at bottom edge, else tight, bright and unmarred. Blue cloth boards, gilt lettering and decorative elements, blue endpages, frontispiece. 4to. np. Illus. (b/w plates). Proportedly produced for NY's 300th anniversary, this volume compiles a wonderful collection of images of the city. By far the most interesting are the juxtaposed images of a given street/corner circa 1830 with another circa 1920. Additionally, there are six "aeroplane" views on the last plate page. From the library of noted architect and writer on architecture, J. Sadler. Sadler was prone to marginalia and laying in clippings and ephemera related to a given book’s subject. The presence of marginal notes or marks will be noted above and are absent if not so noted. Overall, a handsome copy.
