unbound. Envelope Front, ca. 1820's, addressed: "To His Grace, The Duke of Wellington, Picadilly, Immediate and Private, Prince Polignac." 4 1/2 x 3 inches, with intacty original red wax seal. Mounted on larger sheet. Very good. Polignac was a French statesman appointed Prime Minister by Charles X. He received his title of Prince from the Pope in 1820 and as 1823 was made ambassador to the English court where he met Wellington who marvelled on how Polignac had survived eleven years in a French prison under Napoleon.
