Octavo. xvi,80,113- 246 pp., lacking two signatures (G & H, or p. 81-112). Modern half calf and marble paper covered boards, with a red leather label and raised bands on spine; new endpapers. Light wear to spine, but the label remains bright. Text clean. One leaf (L4) has a diagonal closed-tear which has an old repair at the fore-edge. Constable on writing: metaphor, style, antitheses; commentary on Aristotle, Tasso, Milton and others. A clean copy, attractively bound, but missing some text leaves (the end of the third essay 'Reflections upon Accuracy of Style'); it is offered with all faults.
