M. Niedner, St. Louis 1859, Third Edition - Enlarged. Slim 8vo, 54pp, 5pp ads, endpapers lt. foxed. Orig. red cloth blind stamped "Money" on the front board (faintly rubbed). Boards a bit marked, 2 sml. ink marks, slt. overall marking, spine the faintest bit worn at head and foot, overall good+ binding. An early work by Eastman, with ads at the back for his commercial schools in St. Louis and Oswego, New York. After the Civil War, Eastman relocated to Poughkeepsie, NY where he founded yet another business school. This treatise discusses the history of money, gold, banking, and then discusses counterfeiting- the paper, engraving, plates, lathe work, parallel ruling, signatures, imprints, landscapes, etc.
