The type used is described as probably the oldest type in the Collection Typographique; it is a fifteenth century roman letter of Peter Schoeff er (Gutenbergs son-in- law). The Pleiad was a publishing title for a series of books designed by Frederic Warde and published in various places. Kenneth Day, ed., Book Typography 1815-1965: Wardes book s. . . are usually sparse, ligh tly decorated, and classic in design and feeling. His books, comparatively few and slight, display a conscious search for clarity and a regard for perfection which make s them memorable.
