Folio, green linen with large gilt ornament on front cover of slave holding a sun dial. Fine and bright (unusual thus as many copies look as if they have been left out in the garden). This second and best edition, among many other revisions and additions, includes a section on Hispano-Moorish gardens not present in the first edition of 1918, and about fifty percent of the photographs are new. Mostly English gardens, existing old and modern, and "garden furniture": orangeries, garden houses, Japanese gardens, urns and vases, topiary, ponds and water gardens, fountains, and so on.
