A little wear and mo dest foxing and smudging but a very nice copy.Title and 16 leaves with text on rectos only; 15 with large chromolithograph illustrations from original watercolors by Janette Ralson Chase. The watercol ors were designed "not.for the public eye, but as a birthday gift from a loving daughter to her father, who occupies one of the highest positions in the United States Gover nment." U.S. Supreme Court Salmon P. Chase was given the original handmade book by his daughters Kate and Janette Chase for his 62nd birthday in January 1870.
