Very good. . FIRST SEPARATE EDITION. Demours' "observations on an artificial pupil" involved an opening close to the sclera. This paper reports on Demours' operation to form a new pupil in the unfortunate Sauvage, who was twenty-two years old at the time his eyes suffered from a "violent ophthamia." This paper was read before the Institut National on June 14, 1799 (i.e.: 26 Prairial an 8). The story created a great sensation, not only in France but all over Europe. The engraved plate shows the eye of the patient. REFERENCES: Albert, et al, Source book of ophthalmology, 546; Hirschberg, III, p. 301.
