"This is an improved edition of [Robert Estienne's] Thesaurus, and is a very valuable publication. It is magnificently published … The works of Gesner and Facciolatus are so comprehensive, and executed with such indefatigable industry, that it may not perhaps be too much to assert, that if every other book on the subject had perished, these two alone might have supplied all the materials for an excellent treatise on Latin synonymes" (Dibdin).
