Book Description

Dublin Bro. Wm. M'Gee / Bro. G. Wm. Speth 1895-1900 Hardcover Limited edition Quarto [28 cm] Light blue cloth with a brown leather gilt stamped spine label. Top edge gilt. Very good. The spine is heavily faded. The covers are very subtly faded and stained. There are several small indentations in the cloth and boards of the rear cover. The pages are clean and bright. This book once belonged to Utah bookseller, Kent Walgren. Contains 7 fold-out illustrations. Extremely scarce. Fasciculus I., Copy Number 240 of only 300 copies. Fasciculus II, Copy Number 95. Fasciculus III is not numbered. Adding to the uniqueness of this copy, is the fact that there is a contemporary inscription on the title page at the rear that reads, "Presented to the Royal Cumberland Lodge No 41. Dec. 12, 1908 by W. Bro. W. J. Chetwode Crawley." In all probability, that is his signature. The books were supplied only to the Brethren of the Craft. The pamphlet, The King and the Craft, by W. Bro. John P. Simpson, has been laid in. "The Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Ireland stands next in rank to the Grand Lodge of England, which is directly or indirectly, the Mother Grand Lodge of the World. With this single exception, the Grand Lodge of Ireland has no superior in seniority, or rival in rank." - the Editor
