1pg. 8" x 12". February 20th, 1866. Manlius, NY. A document signed by "William C. Taggart" and "Edwin Applegate" regarding funding for Taggart's invention, the "Pendulum Washer". The document reads: "... That whereas said Taggart is the inventor of a new Washing Machine to be known as the 'Pendulum Washer' for which he is about taking out Letters Patent from the United States of America; and for obtaining which Letters Patent & to pay all the attendant expenses thereof said Applegate proposes to furnish the necessary funds & means including the expenses of Model & Drawings. Now therefore in consideration of the premises the parties hereby Mutually agree that said Applegate shall furnish such moneys, now estimated to be about sixty one dollars, and that said Taggart shall complete his said invention & obtain, if possible, such Patent therefor; and that when obtained said Patent, with all its advantages shall belong equally to said parties; and they shall share equally in all subsequent Profits & Losses growing out of the use & Sale of said invention & patent... ". The document is in excellent condition, and has three horizontal folds with slight tearing at the left margins. An unusual technology piece
