Book Description
DS. 1pg. 7 ¼" x 3 ¼". July 13, 1865. Territory of Montana. A partly printed document is headed "Warrant No. 1130 Territory of Montana, County of Meadison [sic]" and states that "The Treasurer will pay to George H Hanna + Co or order Thirty One + 38/100 Dollars out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated." The document is signed by "John S. Scott", the Territorial Auditor and Territorial Treasurer. As Montana became a territory in 1864, it certainly was a challenge to haul a printing press into the Big Sky country. It is in pristine condition, with no folds, tears, or stains. A cancellation hole appears under the word order
