Book Description
TLS. 1pg. 6 ¼” x 9 ½”. April 18, 1975. The White House. A typed letter signed “Betty Ford” as First Lady on White House letterhead. She wrote to Mr. and Mrs. Perkins McGuire: “First of all, how delightful to spend the evening of my birthday with such special and dear friends. And I want to especially thank you for the divine lingerie bag. It really is the perfect gift – I think your hunch may be right as I, too, anticipate a great deal of travel in the next few years. The bag is so feminine and in my favorite shades of orange, yellow and coral – I know I will enjoy using it.” McGuire, whom the letter is addressed to, served as the Assistant Secretary of Defense under President Eisenhower, and was later appointed by President Nixon to be Chairman of the Commission on Government Procurement. The letter has two mailing folds and is in fine condition; it is accompanied by the original mailing envelope.
