Book Description

TLS. 1pg. 6 ½” x 8 ¼”. September 16, 1958. Ottawa. A typed letter signed “Yousef” on his decorative “Karsh” stationery to Leopold Mannes: “It was good to hear your voice over the telephone this morning after such a long time. I am deeply appreciative of your willingness to help in the matter of getting material to form the basis of a profile to accompany Menotti’s portrait in my forthcoming book. The completed text calls for about 400 words, written in the first person. The attached tear-sheets from the Jubilee issue of the Atlantic Monthly, will I believe show you what I have in mind. As I mentioned to you, time is of the essence and I would be most grateful if the material could reach me by the end of September. This is the only part of the text remaining to be written and now my publishers are getting a little restive. I am attaching a few questions which might be of use for an interview; perhaps you will find some of them a little pedestrian, in which case you may of course take the liberty of composing others (as if I have not already imposed enough upon you!)…”. The letter is in fine condition.
