Book Description

The Ballet Company was formed in 1954 by Thelma Hill and Ward Flemyng. The group toured Europe and the United States. In 1958, Hill and a group of top New York dancers, which included Alvin Ailey, formed a dance troupe that would eventually become the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater in 1960. Signatures. 2pp. 3 ½” x 4 ½”. 1957. Glasgow-London. A collection of nineteen ballet autographs on both sides of a card; included in this grouping are the company’s founders, “Ward Flemyng” and “Thelma Hill”. There is a thin tape strip to the extreme left margin that affects a couple of letters, but it is in fine condition overall. An unusual dance piece.
