(1816-1868). A German born American painter, Leutz is best remembered for "Washington Crossing The Delaware." He did other grand historical paintings, such as "Westward the Course of Empire Takes its Way" and a famous portrait of Chief Justice Taney. ADS. 1pg. 7 ¾" x 2". No date. No place. An autograph document signed "E.G. Leutz": "Mr. Minor Randolph Harrison Esqr is at my room at present E.G. Leutz" It is written on a slip of paper and there are five mounting remnants that show through to the front. I could find no other Leutz signatures in American Book Prices Current or any other source
