Book Description

TLS. 1pg. 6” x 7”. February 4, 1962. Phoenix. A typed letter signed “Bill Inge” on “Jokake Inn” letterhead; he wrote to David Samples: “Your letter was forwarded to me out here. I probably won’t be back in NY until late spring. I’ll leave for California in another week or so, and spend the rest of the winter there. I don’t yet know where I’ll be there. As for royalties on SUMMER BRAVE, check with Audrey Wood [his literary agent]. I guess you can bill the play any way you see fit.” Summer Brave was a reworking of Picnic with a different ending than used in the original Broadway and film versions. It opened in October 1975 at the ANTA Playhouse in New York. The letter is in fine condition.
