Book Description

Peale was a Christian preacher and author known mostly for his book The Power of Positive Thinking. An archive of four Peale letters to the same recipient: a) TLS. 1pg. 7 ¼" x 10 ½". April 3, 1950. New York, NY. A typed letter signed "Norman V. Peale" to Paul W. Kieser of the Dana Corporation in Toledo. In part: "I am terribly embarrassed to discover that I have never yet written you to thank you for the Autobiography of Joseph Fort Newton which you so kindly handed me when I was in Toledo." Joseph Fort Newton was an ordained minister and Grand Chaplain of the Grand Freemason Lodge of Iowa. Coincidentally, it is rumored that Peale was, himself, a freemason. Written on the letterhead of the Marble Collegiate Church (the New York City church where Peale was pastor for 52 years) the letter is in good shape. b) TLS. 1pg. 7 ¼" x 10 ½". January 9, 1952. New York, NY. A typed letter signed " Norman V. Peale" to Paul W. Kieser in Toledo: "Thank you for sending me that wonderfully inspiring and interesting article by your brother. What a great soul he is. It brought new courage and faith to me to read his article." Written on "Marble Collegiate Church" letterhead, the letter is in good shape. c) TLS. 1pg. 7 ¼" x 10 ½". January 5, 1959. New York, NY. A typed letter signed " Norman V. Peale" to Paul W. Kieser in Toledo: "It was a pleasure to receive your letter and I am highly complimented to know that The Toledo Rotary Spoke picked up my comments on Joe Brown. If you happen to see him, will you please tell him that I am one of his most admiring fans. He is a great person, and I liked his son so much. I was really quite taken with him." Written on "Marble Collegiate Church" letterhead, the letter is in good shape. d) TLS. 1pg. 7 ¼" x 10 ½". December 22, 1959. New York, NY. A typed letter signed " Norman V. Peale" to Paul W. Kieser in Toledo: "If you are in New York City at any time I certainly hope you will worship with us. Meanwhile please accept my best wishes for you and yours for a Merry Christmas and a New Year filled to overflowing with God's richest blessings." Written on "Marble Collegiate Church" letterhead, the letter is in good shape
