ALS. 1pg. 5 ¾” x 8 ¾”. March 18, 1957. Princeton, NJ. An autograph letter signed “John O’Hara” to John K.M. McCaffery (1913-1983), a popular radio and television personality: “I am almost as pleased with your Award as you must be. I am on the Peabody Committee this year and I am going to vote for you at our meeting tomorrow.” Originally from Moscow, Idaho, McCaffery rose to prominence as a newscaster in New York City on the 11th Hour News program (1952-1963), but also hosted and moderated several different television programs. Established in 1941, the Peabody Awards recognize excellence in electronic media. Written on O’Hara’s personal letterhead, the letter is in fine condition.
