Book Description

Low was a New York merchant and legislator. He favored independence and after the war, was elected director of the Bank of New York and the Bank of the United States. He attended the New York state constitutional convention and was a supporter of the Society for Establishing Useful Manufactures. He spent his later life in land speculation. DS. 1pg. 7 ½" x 4". February 10, 1786. New York, NY. A document signed "Nicholas Low" ordering pay to "Lewis Ogden" and "Richard Soderstrom": "Please to pay Mr. Lewis Ogden on order forty-three pounds, six shillings, and eight pence." There are a few pencil notations and the usual wear, neither of which affect the document per se. However, it has several pen cancellation strokes which touch Low's autograph. Nonetheless, the document is in fine shape
