An autograph letter signed “Pat Nixon” to Perkins and Katharine McGuire just after her husband resigned the Presidency: “We always know Christmas is near when your traditional gift of maple syrup arrives! It is always enjoyed with appreciation and happy thoughts of your kindness. With warm best wishes for you in the New Year. Devotedly, Pat Nixon”. Perkins McGuire served as the Assistant Secretary of Defense under President Eisenhower, and was later appointed by President Nixon to be Chairman of the Commission on Government Procurement. The letter is on “La Casa Pacifica” letterhead and is in fine condition.
