James B. Haggin Signs Homestake Mining Company Stock as President

(1827-1914). Haggin invested large profits from his San Francisco law practice in gold, copper and silver mining interests, owning over 100 mines from Alaska to Chile. By the late 1870s, Haggin became interested in horse racing and his horses won most of the great racing trophies. Signed Stock. 1pp. 10 ½" x 7". Dec 30 1880. No place. A Homestake Mining Company stock signed "J B Haggin" as President. He issued thirty-three shares, and the stock was punch and stamp cancelled. It is in fine condition overall
