TLS. 1pg. 6 ¾” x 9”. December 19, 1972. Washington, DC. A typed letter signed “RN” as President to E. Perkins McGuire & his wife, Katherine: “Pat and I are delighted to be remembered again, as the holidays approach, with a gift of maple syrup. We join in thanking you for your friendliness in adding to the joys of the festive season and we want you to know of our deep appreciation. This not also brings our warm good wishes for a happy Christmas and New Year filled with many blessings.” Perkins had been the Assistant Secretary of Defense under President Eisenhower, and was later appointed by Nixon to be Chairman of the Commission on Government Procurement. Typed on White House stationery, the letter is in fine condition.
