ALS. 2pg. 4 ¾" x 7 ¾" . July 9, 1891. Boston. An autograph letter signed " W.D. Howells" to the old Boston jewelry firm of Shreve, Crump and Lowe: " I supposed you do not wish me to pay your charge for repairing my towering clock till it proves itself in good running order. It has stopped five or six times since you last returned it, but is jut now going. Iw ill take it with me, and if it keeps going, I will send you my check later. If not, I should be obliged to send you the clock again in the fall." The letter is in fine condition with dark ink on foam green paper.
