New York Simon and Schuster 1953 Hardcover First Printing Quarto [26 cm] Bright yellow cloth covered boards with a black ink stamped title on the spine, and black ink stamped comic characters on the front cover. Illustrated endsheets. Very good. The underlying boards are exposed at the spine ends. The jacket is in good condition only, with numerous small losses from the edges. There is a large loss from the paper at the foot of the spine. Walter Crawford Kelly was named Cartoonist of the Year by the National Cartoonists Society in 1952. Pogo is one of the world's most poular comic strips. At the time this was written, it was read by more than 37,000,000 persons in the United States, Canada, Mexico and several other countries.
