First Edition by Little Brown & Co., Boston: 1963. Fine in gray cloth covered boards with slight fading to the upper edges of the boards. In a very good dust jacket with a price clipped jacket flap and modest wear to the spine ends. This is the third state of the book with the dedication page tipped-in after the title page.

boards : Common term for the covers of a hardbound book.
dust jacket : A protective and often decorative wrapper, usually made of paper which wraps around the binding of a book.
spine : The outer portion of a book which covers the actual binding. The spine usually faces outward when a book is placed on a shelf. Also known as the back.
price clipped : The portion of the dust jacket flap where the publisher prints the suggested price has been cut away. Usually this is a clean 1-2" diagonal cut made with scissors.
title page : A page where the title of the book, the author's name and publication information usually appear.
tipped-in : used to describe something which has been glued into a book, for example a bookplate.
Cloth : Generally refers to a hardcover with cloth covering the outside of the book covers.
