New York A Corwin Book / Greenberg: Publisher 1951 Hardcover First edition 231pp. Octavo [21 cm] Light orange cloth with a black ink stamped title on the spine, and a very small ink stamped design on the front cover. Near fine condition. The jacket is in fair condition only, with heavily chipped edges, and a two inch loss from the paper at the foot of the spine. There are several thin tears in the front panel, along the fold of the inside flap. The longest tear measures 2 inches. Price-clipped. Publisher's survey laid in. No statement of printing on copyright page, as listed in L. W. Currey's Science Fiction and Fantasy Authors.

jacket : Sometimes used as another term for dust jacket, a protective and often decorative wrapper, usually made of paper which wraps around the binding of a book
octavo : A book whose page size is approximately 12 inches by 9 inches. The size is based on a sheet of paper 25 inches by 38 inches, the size of paper traditionally used by book printers, which has been cut into eight pages.
spine : The outer portion of a book which covers the actual binding. The spine usually faces outward when a book is placed on a shelf. Also known as the back.
chipped : A defect in which small pieces missing from the edges.
price-clipped : The portion of the dust jacket flap where the publisher prints the suggested price has been cut away. Usually this is a clean 1-2" diagonal cut made with scissors.
Fair : is a worn book that has complete text pages (including those with maps or plates) but may lack endpapers, half-title, etc. (which must be noted). Binding, jacket (if any), etc., may also be worn. All defects must be noted. (defined by AB Bookman's Weekly)
laid in : something which is included with, but not attached to the book, such as a sheet of paper.
Cloth : Generally refers to a hardcover with cloth covering the outside of the book covers.
