The 1927 building exposition on a hill in Weissenhof, superintended by Mies van der Rohe, is considered the high point of early modern architecture. Sixteen architects from five European countries erected prototypes for affordable workers' housing. The designs are described by their architects, who included, Behrens, Gropius, Le Corbusier, Hilberseimer, Oud, Bruno and Max Taut and Mies himself, who encouraged the International Style.
