Inscribed by North Carolinian Davis to fellow author George Garrett: "for George Garrett with admiration and best wishes, Paxton Davis. 12 December 1962." Typed slip laid-in with request to send the book to Garrett at his address at the English Department of the University at Virginia. The author's first book, a novel of World War II about two man, one black and one white, thrown together during an attack on a Japanese stronghold in the CBI (China-Burma-India) sector. .
