Extremities a bit rubbed, spine a shade darkened, otherwise a very good copy. First edition. One of two hundred deluxe copies numbered in Roman, printed on Japan paper, and accompanied by a separate suite of the portraits (enclosed in worn folder, some pencil captions on versos). As much a tribute to the era and its personalities - political, literary, social - as to Queen Anne herself. There were also eight hundred ordinary copies, without the suite.
