Established in 1989, the Company specializes in the social, political, and cultural history of the Americas. Areas of concentration include Colonial America, the American Revolution and Federal period, American imprints of the 18th century; Afro-Americana, slavery, the Civil War, Reconstruction, the American South; law and economics, commerce, banking, trade, industry, canals, railroads, agriculture, urbanization; the American West; political campaigns and issues, presidential politics. Since 1993 David M. Lesser Fine Antiquarian Books LLC has been a member of the Antiquarian Booksellers Association of America and the International League of Antiquarian Booksellers. The Company, located in New Haven's northern suburb of Woodbridge, is also a member of the Southern New England Antiquarian Booksellers. David M. Lesser is a member of the American Antiquarian Society, the Grolier Club, the Ephemera Society of America, and the Ancient Order of the Jackass. Susan E. Monarca, David's assistant, has been an associate member of the Antiquarian Booksellers Association of America since 2020. We issue six printed catalogues annually. Visitors wishing to browse our stock of 10,000 titles are welcome to do so in person, by appointment.
