First published by Samuel Wood in 1810, this is a bleak book for young children, encouraging them to view “the cuts in this little book” very “carefully” for “serious and profitable reflection.” They show tottering old men, a corpse shrouded for viewing, a coffin, and a skeleton, among other things.
