Amsterdam:. 1634.. Striking hand colored engraved map of Iceland with erupting volcano, sea monsters and ships, and mountainous landscapes. With decorative cartouches (title, scale of miles), two compass rose and rhumb lines. Based on Mercator's version of Bishop Gudbrandur Thorlaksson's map it became the standard for mapping Iceland to the 18th century.
