Brussels: C. Muquardt, [circa 1863-1885]. Chromolithograph, by P.Depannemaeker. Very good condition apart from a few light foxing marks. 21 3/4 x 15 5/8 inches. A fine example of the spectacular botanical work by Berthe Hoola Van Nooten, from 'Fleurs, Fruits et Feuillages Choisis de l'Ile de Java'. Water-colour and gouache. 23½ x 18½ inches. Framed and glazed. A finely balanced and very accomplished work, the work of the Flemish botanical artist Ledoulx and taken from a compilation of drawings made by Baron Joseph van Huerne in Belgium between about 1790 and 1820. Eichstatt: 1640, 2nd edition. Hand-coloured engraving. Faint manuscript notations under titles, platemark at edge of sheet in the upper right, otherwise, good condition. 20 1/2 x 16 1/4 inches. Basil Besler published "Hortus Eystettensis", the earliest large folio botanical, at Eichstatt near Nuremburg, in 1613. He worked on the drawings for the 374 copper engravings over a period of sixteen years using the plants in the garden of Bishop Johann Conrad von Gemmingen, his patron.
