Tsuchida's odd documentation of Japanese folk customs and religious ceremonies, although one wouldn't necessarily glean that from looking at the pictures. Stockholm: Bokomotiv. (1982).. First Edition. Oblong quarto. Text in Swedish by Baitel and Françoise Riss, with a foreword by Arne Ruth. Designed by Anders Ljungman. Chilling images of French skinheads and neo-Nazis, shot between 1977 and 1981 in the combustible suburbs of Paris. Baitel hid his Jewish roots while photographing this project. (Auer 641). Zurich: Interbooks. (1960).. First Edition. Quarto. Afterward by Georg Ramseger. Haunting images of midfifties Europe shot in a dark lush gravure. While the tone of the book is set by the first spread: a Munich shantytown muddied in the aftermath of war, the cinematic swagger of Wicki's work is enough to mitigate what might otherwise be mistaken for a survey of destruction.
