A very good copy of thre author's best-known and autobiographical novel. The author was born on the Russian/Polish border and emigrated to the US in 1901. She worked in minimus wage jobs before receiving a scholarship to Columbia. She eventually wrote 11 books concerning the lives of Jewish emigrants in the lower east side of NYC. ... more information
