by ENDICOTT, Stephen (pseudonym of Walter Adolphe Roberts)
New York: Mohawk Press, 1931. Hardcover. Near Fine/Very Good. Stated seventh printing. Near fine in a near very good dustwrapper with some sunning on the spine and stating seventh printing, also on the spine. A novel about political corruption in New York, apparently inspired by true events. Roberts was a prolific black journalist of West Indian origins, who was later known for his travel books of that region. He wrote the first true detective novel by an African-American, as well as volumes of both travel and poetry. Very uncommon in the dustwrapper. (Inventory #: 418569)
