1954 · Paris
by Dubuffet, Jean
Paris: the author, 1954. Single page of Dubuffet's letterhead, with a penned letter to Sawyer in French, thanking him for his letter and for a recent article that appeared in the Herald Tribune. He invites Sawyer to his home, and inquires whether René Drouin has given him Georges Limbour's book on his work. The letter has been folded into quarters for mailing, otherwise very good; original envelope with postal cancellations is also present. The artist Dubuffet is best known for his work with the Art Brut movement (a term he coined). Sawyer wrote for the Paris Herald Tribune; the envelope is addressed to his Paris residence at 13 Rue de Savoie. (Inventory #: 218279)
