Pamphlet
1913 · Thomson, GA
by WATSON, Thomas E.
Thomson, GA: Jeffersonian Publishing Co, 1913. Pamphlet. Watson (1856-1922) was a populist Georgia politician and newspaperman, perhaps best remembered for his inflammatory role in the Leo Frank lynching case. Though Watson began his political career on the progressive Populist ticket, even running for Vice President beside William Jennings Bryan in 1896, by the mid 1910s his views had evolved (devolved?) to embrace anti-Semitism, anti-Catholicism, and Black racism, though he continued to profess progressive, even socialistic views on questions of economics and labor. Second (enlarged) edition. Octavo. Printed card wrappers; 166, (4)pp; illus. Moderate soil; partial erasure of pencil ownership signature to front endpaper; still a firm, unmarked copy, just Very Good. (Inventory #: 35084)
