Contemporary gilt paneled calf, backstrip with green and brown morocco title-strips lettered in gilt, richly gilt decoration to each panel, blind dentelles, all edges marbled, and marbled endpapers. Boards have occasional scuff mark, joints are slightly cracked, slight foxing near plates, overall a very good set sumptuously bound. A new edition, “revised and greatly augmented,” from the first edition published in 1840-48.
