All thirteen watercolour and ink paintings are reproduced here, bringing together Rego's expressive cast of figures amidst their troubled landscape. The de luxe edition consists of seventy-five signed and numbered copies, and has been bound by The Fine Book Bindery; this edition is accompanied by a signed etching with aquatint, "Adjusting the Recipe", by Paula Rego.
___DESCRIPTION: Full dark blue cloth with colour illustration inlaid to front board, printed quote from the text inlaid to lower front board, gilt lettering on the spine, off-white endpapers, thirteen full-page colour illustrations; Monotype Baskerville type, 170 gsm Arctic Volume FSC paper, elephant folio size (17" by 14"), 16 unnumbered leaves, signed by Paula Rego and Cas Willing. Accompanied by one original etching printed on 300 gsm Somerset Velvet 16" by 13.5", number 7 of 75 and signed by Paula Rego, housed in a blue quarter cloth and paper portfolio with original tissue guard. Prospectus loosely laid in, as well as an inscribed holiday card from Stephen Stuart-Smith of Enitharmon Press utilising one of the illustrations from the book. The book and the portfolio containing the etching are encased in the publisher's slipcase covered in matching navy blue cloth, with paper label with black lettering on the front board.
___CONDITION: A fine copy, has no fraying to the cloth, the leaves are bright with no soiling or tears, and it is free of prior owner markings. The accompanying etching is fine, as is the prospectus and holiday card (inscribed to the original owner of the book); the slipcase is fine, strong and sturdy, clean and without wear.
