The contents offers delightful assessments of late 19th century scientific advances: the telegraph, telephone, microphone, phonograph, electric lights, electricity in the home, military applications, force, machines, tramways, velocipede (or bicycle), medical applications (incl. surgery), galvanoplasty (electrotyping), electric transmission, etc. BINDING DESIGN: Auguste Souze, born 1829, designer, engraver, studied with the master Tambon, and started his own workshop in 1857, in Paris, continuing in this trade through 1892.
