Short closed tear in gutters and fore-edge of first few and last few leaves, minor edge loss to last leaf, some toning. Overall, a very good, unsophisticated copy. "It was the Crockett Almanacks which made Crockett a legendary figure and a part of American folk-lore" - GROLIER AMERICAN HUNDRED. This is volume 2, number 1, and the fifth of the Crockett almanacs to be issued in Nashville. This issue contains the usual tall tales and wonderful woodcut illustrations, including "Judy Finx whipping a Catamount," "Col. Crockett and the Methodizer," "An unexpected ride on the horns of an Elk," and other classics. The text, written in frontier dialect, describes Crockett's adventures with a grizzly bear; a ride on the back of a buffalo; Col. Crockett and the Squatter; Col.
